About Us

Hyperion Research Ltd. is a small company specializing in the analysis of water, wastewater and well water for the presence of Giardia cysts, Cryptosporidium oocysts and surface water organisms. Our clients include engineering and environmental consulting firms, municipalities and government agencies. Various applied and pure research projects related to our work are usually running in the background but Hyperion is primarily an analytical laboratory.

The company was founded in 1986 and has three regular employees and a small number of student technicians. Peter Wallis (B.Sc. Hon, Toronto; M.Sc. and Ph.D., Waterloo) is the President and Principal Scientist, Carla Wakelam (B.Sc., Alberta) is the Laboratory Manager and Keith Wilson is the Microscopy Technician. Hyperion is accredited by the Canadian Association of Laboratory Accreditation and carries Workman's Compensation, Liability and Errors and Omission Insurance.
